The infrastructure Behind Safer, Smarter Job Sites

Is your construction team working at full potential or are delays and miscommunication slowing things down?

Managing workers on large job sites isn’t easy. Between tracking who’s on-site, staying on top of safety, and keeping everyone in the loop, traditional systems can quickly become a headache. That’s where Eyrus comes in. It helps construction teams save time and money by making workforce management automatic and easy. With tools like digital check-ins, real-time updates, and clear reporting, Eyrus takes the guesswork out of daily operations.

Since launching, it’s helped save over 510,000 hours of management time and more than $180 million in project costs. As the construction world moves faster and projects grow more complex, platforms like Eyrus are becoming essential for staying ahead.

The opportunity

Eyrus began with a simple but powerful question from co-founder Alexandra McManus: “Why is it still so hard to know who’s actually on a job site?”

Having spent years working with large-scale construction and real estate projects, Alexandra had seen the same issues play out again and again: manual check-ins, scattered spreadsheets, late reports, and safety risks that could have been avoided. Alongside her co-founders, including Hussein Cholkamy and Joel Sonkin, she set out to change that.

The team realized that construction teams didn’t lack data, they lacked visibility. So much of the daily chaos on job sites came down to not having real-time answers to basic questions: Who’s here? What are they working on? Are they where they need to be? With that in mind, Eyrus was born - a workforce visibility platform built specifically for the realities of construction.

Their goal? To give field teams and project leaders a clear, live view of everything happening on-site, without the need for manual paperwork or constant follow-ups.

Eyrus set out to solve a handful of real, day-to-day challenges on worksites:

  • Unclear Workforce Presence: Managers often had no way of knowing exactly who was on-site at any given moment.
  • Paper Logs and Errors: Time tracking and workforce data were still being collected manually, causing delays and mistakes.
  • Disconnected Teams: Multiple subcontractors working in silos meant miscommunication and inefficiencies were the norm.
  • Compliance Headaches: Keeping up with certifications, safety protocols, and attendance records was a full-time job in itself.
  • Data Left on the Table: The job site was full of activity, but none of it was being captured in a way that helped long-term planning.

With Eyrus, Alexandra, Hussein, and Joel created a platform that brings automation, transparency, and simplicity to workforce management, helping teams save time, reduce risk, and stay focused on building.

The Product

Eyrus is a construction worksite intelligence platform that helps project teams manage workforce operations, safety, security, and reporting from a single dashboard. It collects real-time data from job sites using mobile apps, geofencing, NFC, BLE badges, and wearables, turning this into actionable insights through visual dashboards, alerts, and automated reports.

Solutions

  • Workforce Management
Eyrus simplifies worker registration and onboarding with self-serve tools like QR codes and SMS-based workflows. It automates time and attendance tracking, monitors labor deployment by trade or subcontractor, and delivers real-time headcount, hours, and diversity data. Reports can be configured for compliance, prevailing wage audits, and workforce distribution.
  • Site Security and Access Control
The platform enables secure, badge-based access using NFC or BLE readers. It integrates with turnstiles, gates, and cameras for comprehensive access control and video surveillance. Mass text alerts and evacuation tracking improve emergency response and muster reporting.
  • Safety and Environmental Monitoring
Through Eyrus Detect sensors, teams can monitor water leaks, fire, smoke, gas levels, dust, and temperature on-site. Alerts and logs help track resolution actions and improve response times. The system also monitors worker fatigue and enables safety alerts based on site behavior and risk thresholds.
  • Analytics and Scheduling
Eyrus connects actual workforce data to project schedules (like Oracle P6), allowing teams to compare planned vs actual deployment and spot schedule risks early. It provides forecasting tools and dashboards for progress analysis.
  • Integrations and Flexibility
Eyrus integrates with platforms like Procore, Autodesk BIM 360, and Touchplan. Its modular setup works for small and large projects alike, with hardware-free deployment options using mobile apps and geofencing. Equipment like BLE badges and NFC stickers can be reused and reassigned easily.

Our Contribution

We developed the following four apps and are currently maintaining them. In addition, we actively contribute to their backend systems, web frontend, and collaborate closely with their internal team:

  • Eyrus Visibility Android application
Android app for workforce management with BLE/NFC badge scanning capabilities for site security check-ins. Security guards use the app to scan badges of the workers while they are in a queue or passing by the gate and mark that this worker has checked-in or checked-out post work.
The app enables zone-based access management with customizable permissions for different site areas. In the backend, they can create different zones on a particular site. If there are different gates on different sites, then they can assign access to specific workers in specific areas. If a particular worker has access to a particular zone, then upon accessing, it would show access “granted”. If not, it will show “denied”. Security guards can provide access to workers not permitted in a particular area but access was granted.
  • Eyrus Visibility iOS application
We developed an iOS version of the workforce management app with additional emergency tracking functionality. During emergencies of any kind, they use this feature to ensure all the required workers have left the site. They use the desktop or web app to track if there is any worker left behind in the site.
  • Eyrus Worker Android & iOS application
Helps workers to onboard themselves - whenever a worker goes to any particular site, they can use the customised registration form for them for that specific site. For different sites there may be different requirements related to certifications, health requirements, documentation, and so on. In the backend, the admin can create specific forms for specific sites so when a worker wants to onboard themselves, they can scan a QR code to load the form, fill the details and sign up. The manager would then approve their request and thereafter they can self check-in and check-out without the need for a security guard using the app. For this, the app utilised multiple things
    • Implemented geofencing for automatic check-in and check-out based on site location - if the worker is within a certain radius, the app would automatically mark them as checked-in. When they leave the geo-fence, the app would automatically mark them as checked-out.
    • Badges installed onsite: Users can scan the badge using the app, and that would mark them as checked-in

The Impact

Eyrus was ranked No. 1216 on the Inc. 5000 list, joining the ranks of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. with a 4x revenue growth in 2020.
